Business Services Office Assistant

Chest Medicine Associates located in South Portland is seeking a full time Business Services Office Assistant with responsibilities for providing general clerical support for the billing office including insurance referrals, primarily coordinating physician and provider credentialing and privileging, and for providing general office support across the practice including filing, data entry, scanning/faxing, and mail duties. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provider credentialing with third party payers and privileging with affiliated institutions to include new provider start up and existing provider credentialing and privileging-related ongoing tasks and recordkeeping
  • Functions as entry level support staff for billing and insurance referrals
  • Processes, handles and distributes incoming and outgoing mail and all other correspondence.
  • Assists administration and accounts payable/receivable with general filing, scanning and faxing.
  • Functions as back up for our office assistant/patient care coordinator float position
  • Additional responsibilities as may be assigned by management.

  • Participate in compliance of OSHA/HIPAA/OIG regulations.
  • Work scheduled hours as determined, one-half hour lunch break.

Job Requirements:

  • High school education or G.E.D. equivalent. Preferred minimum of 3 years of medical practice office and provider credentialing/privileging experience.
  • Highly proficient computer skills with database, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Familiarity with CAQH, online third-party payer credentialing requirements and portals, and hospital medical staff office privileging processes.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess superb organizational skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work
